Congratulations to the Camerata, and their director, Ms. Susan Quinn, on winning the David Ouchterlony Award at the National Music Festival (the National Music Festival is an extension of the local Kiwanis Music Festival).

The road to winning this award began in February at the local Kiwanis Festival, when the Camerata were recommended to proceed to the provincials. The Camerata recorded their repertoire from the local festival for the provincials.

The provincials were held in May in Stephenville, and the judges deemed the Camerata recording to be the only school choir in the province to proceed to the national finals. Their recording was then sent to the Nationals where a blind jury adjudicated the recordings. The National Music Festival was held in Edmonton this August, and the Camerata took first place in the category of best performance by a choral group from a single school under 17 years of age. The award consists of a diploma and a cash award.

We would also like to extend congratulations to the Quintessential Vocal Ensemble (QVE) Youth Choir, who are also directed by Ms. Quinn, for winning the Barbara Clark Award for first place in the category of community choirs under 25 years of age at the same festival.
