In 1973 Father General Pedro Arrupe (Superior General of the worldwide Jesuit order) wrote that “today our prime educational objective must be to form men-for-others; men who will live not for themselves but for God and his Christ.” “Men and women for others and with others” is considered a contemporary expression of the humanism that Jesuit education has embraced from the beginning. It captures, in a nutshell, the ultimate goal of our educational efforts and our current emphasis in a faith that does justice through action.

At St. Bonaventure’s College, the formation of our students into Men and Women for and with others is achieved through many different avenues. Our students participate in our Christian Service Program which puts them into various situations working with the marginalized in our local community. Senior students are given the opportunity to participate in Immersion/Service Trips where they travel to other countries and are immersed in the local community and help with certain projects.
