The 2016 Ignatian Spirit Award Tribute Dinner will be held on April 28, 2016 at the Sheraton Hotel. This year, Mr. Gary Walsh ’66 will be honoured as the recipient of the Award.

Mr. Walsh is a Jesuit educated, award winning professional architect and a proud Alumnus of St. Bonaventure’s College. He has had a distinguished record of volunteer service in the community with the NL Architects Association, Quidi Vidi Rennies River Foundation, Crow’s Nest Officers’ Club, St. John’s Board of Trade and Swiler’s Rugby Club. He was named the 2013 St. Bonaventure’s College Volunteer of the Year for his extraordinary service to his alma mater with the facilities and alumni committees and the Ignatius Society. In 2014, he helped establish the “Fallen 51 Dinner,” an annual event which honours deceased St. Bon’s Alumni who died in World War I, with funds supporting the Bursary Program.

The funds from the Ignatian Spirit Award Tribute Dinner support our Bursary Program. At St. Bon’s, 1 in 11 students comes from a family who cannot meet the cost of a St. Bon’s education. These families are struggling financially due to situations such as prolonged unemployment, serious illness and other family issues. The Bursary Program is designed to ensure that no child is unable to attend the school because of inability to pay. It allows families of all income levels an opportunity to attend the school.

Tickets for this dinner are $250 with a $150 tax receipt. Tickets can be purchased in the President’s Office or by contacting Krista Cardwell at kcardwell@stbons.ca or 726-0024 ext. 200.

If you are unable to attend the event, please consider making a donation (a tax receipt will be issued for the full amount) or becoming a sponsor.
