On Thursday, March 8th, 2018 the 5th Annual Ignatius Society Dinner was held at St. Bonaventure’s College. This is an evening that enables our school community to thank our loyal donors who have made the commitment to donate $1000 each year for 5 years towards our school’s bursary program. The evening also celebrates a member of the society who has made significant contributions to our school community. This year we were proud to honour Mr. Ted O’Keefe with the Ignatian Spirit Award.

Guests enjoyed a delicious meal prepared by our principal and Master Chef Ms. Annette Mallay. The evening was full of friendship and good conversation. There were fifty-two guests in attendance, the largest showing that we have seen in all five years.

Thank you to organizers Ms. Krista Cardwell, Director of Communications and Ms. Melissa Follett, Stakeholder Engagement Assistant and to Ms. Kim Stagg for her help running the event. A special thank you to our Grade 12 volunteers who gave up their evening to serve dinner.

Throughout the past 2 years, the Ignatius Society has grown from 36 donors to 48 donors. This is a great success, yet we are still in need of more members so that we are able to keep up with the demand for bursary assistance. The Ignatius Society has now completed 8 years of operation and has awarded $1,222,645.00 of bursary assistance for 237 students representing 160 families.

The bursary program is an integral part of our school and we would not be able to provide our services without the help of these generous donors. This year we welcomed 5 new members: Kevin & Cathy Breen, Krista Cardwell, Cathy & Robert Dornan, Alison & Jon Drover, and Noreen and John Lewis. If any members of our community are interested in joining and contributing to this cause please contact Jessica Whalen at jwhalen@stbons.ca.
