Students, Staff, Parents, Alumni and Friends Have a Blast at the 125th Anniversary of St. Bon's Sports Day 2019 - 125 years after the very first Sports Day - came with one of the only sunny and warm days we have seen this month!

Wednesday, June 5th (rain date June 6th), help us celebrate 125 years since the very first event on July 14, 1894! We would love to have many alumni come out and enjoy this special day. The second oldest alumni still living in NL (and brother to the oldest living alumni, Douglas Darcy), Jim Darcy, will cut the ribbon for opening ceremonies at 10:10 am.

The evening will begin at 6:oo pm with a Mass in Our Lady's Oratory at St. Bonaventure's College. The Mass will be live streamed to the Aula Maxima for those who may not be able to reach the third floor.

On Thursday, March 15th, the Alumni and Teachers held their own against our Senior Basketball Team as students cheered for their favourites from the sidelines. It was a close game, tied 22-22 at the half, with Alumni and Teachers finishing with a 49-45 lead over the Senior Team.

There's still time to join the Alumni Hockey Team and/or the Alumni Basketball Team! A group of alumni will take on the Senior Basketball Team on Thursday, March 15th at 12:15 pm in the St. Bon's gym, followed by a face-off against the Junior High Hockey Team at 2:00 pm at Bussey Horwood Arena.

For the past several years, St. Bon's has held an Annual Alumni Hockey Game. We are pleased to continue with this tradition. Based on its success, some members of the alumni community have come forward in the interest of having an Alumni Basketball Game.

Another successful Alumni Christmas Social was held on Thursday, December 21, in the Aula Maxima. Old friends caught up, new friends were made and prizes were won - fun was had by all.

The 2016 Annual Alumni Christmas Social was a great success! This year saw one of the largest turnouts with about 75 alumni coming to spread some Christmas spirit in the Aula Maxima. There were representatives from a variety of graduation years ranging from 1966 through 2016! Thank you to alumni parent Ann MacDonald for arranging this wonderful event, as well as the teachers, alumni parents and President's Office members who helped make this such an amazing evening.

The 2016 Alumni Dinner was held at St. Bonaventure's College on Thursday, October 20, 2016. The evening was a success with a great turn out - lots of fun was had! The event started with Mass in the Chapel, celebrated by Archbishop Currie and concelebrated by Father Bill Browne, S.J. '45, Father Kevin Molloy, Father Joseph Schuck, S.J. and Father Earl Smith, S.J.

"On the Hill" Newsletter The 3rd Annual "Fallen 51" Dinner was held Thursday, September 22, 2016 at the Crow's Nest Officers' Club. It was a full house with guests coming together to commemorate the fifty-one St. Bon's Alumni who lost their lives in the First World War.

Alumnus Gary Walsh '66 was honoured with the Ignatian Spirit Award at the 3rd Annual St. Bonaventure's College Tribute Dinner on April 28th. The Ignatian Spirit Award honours a person who has made an invaluable contribution to their community and who truly demonstrates what it means to be a "Man or Woman for and with Others."

Nominate a Distinguished Alumnus St. Bonaventure's College's Alumnus of the Year Award recognizes an outstanding graduate whose contributions have notably improved both their profession a nd community. The recipient is a well-rounded person who is intellectually competent, open to growth, religious, loving and committed to justice in the generous service to the people of God.

World War 1 Chaplain Thomas Nangle was recognized for his efforts in creating the "Trail of the Caribou" a series of monuments at each of the five major battlefields where Newfoundlanders fought. He led the exhuming, identification and proper burial of hundreds of Newfoundland boys.
